Asunto: Adaptación Tetra en inglés para niños.

Estoy abrumado y feliz, amigos.

THE WALKYRIE (I)

1. One very dark and stormy night, Siegmund, a brave warrior, wounded and exhausted from pursuit by enemies in the forest, has lost his weapons and seeks refuge in a hut.

He is helped by Sieglinde, the wife of cruel Hunding. A tree grows in the hut. In its trunk is a word that no one has ever been able to remove.

2. As Sieglinde serves a meal to Hunding and Siegmund tells of his life. His mother had been killed, his sister kidnapped as a child. His father had later disappeared. Siegmund himself has just been wounded while vainly trying to rescue a girl being wed against her wishes.

3. Hunding is his enemies? chief. He knows that Siegmund is weaponless, so he tells him that they will fight in the morning. Sieglinde gives Hunding a sleeping potion.

She and Siegmund fall in love. ?You are brave and good. I love you,? says the girl.

?I love you too. You are the prettiest girl I have never seen,? answers the boy, who is very happy.

4. Siegmund discovers the sword Nothung, which his protector Wotan had driven into the tree years before in anticipation of Siegmund?s need. He pulls it out and escapes with Sieglinde into the spring night.

THE WALKYRIE (II)

5. In a mountain pass, Brünnhilde meets Wotan. She is one of the Walkyries, the daughters of Wotan who gather fallen heroes from de field of battle. Wotan orders her to protect Siegmund in the forthcoming fight with Hunding, who is in pursuit.

6. Enraged, Fricka, who protects Hunding, comes up to her husband, Wotan. Using argument that Wotan cannot resist, she forces him to change his orders to Brünnhilde: it is Siegmund who must fall.

?Siegmund has stolen Sieglinde from his husband. He must die. I like Hunding and hate the thief,? she orders, and Wotan sadly nods.

7. Armed, Brünnhilde returns with her horse Grane. She is shocked to hear Wotan?s new commands.

?I have changed my mind. The victory will be for Hunding,? orders the god.

8. Brünnhilde implores Wotan to reconsider. Wotan love Siegmund. He is the hero who can recover the ring and remove its curse. But the god must respect his wife?s desires and forget his hopes.

?No, no, Father, I can?t!" laments Brünnhilde. "You loves Siegmund and I will protect him?.

"How dare you disobey me, child? Go, I say! Give to Hunding the victory and thus fulfill my promise,? shouts him angrily.

9. Sadly Brunhilde takes up her spear and shield and ride away to the battlefield. When she sees Siegmund and Sieglinde approaching, she quickly hides in a nearby cave. The two lovers arrive exhausted.

?Sieglinde, my love, rest a little. You are very tired,? tells him the boy lovely.

10. Sieglinde falls asleep as Siegmund keeps guard. Bünnhilde has pity on the couple of lovers and defends Siegmund in the battlefield. But Wotan appears and Siegmund is killed. Brünnhilde escapes with Sieglinde, followed by the furious Wotan.

The god?s anger is terrible?

THE WALKYRIE (III)

11.Galloping on their flying horses, the Walkyries meet on a mountaintop. They are about to return to Walhalla with the slain heroes they have gathered from various battlefields. Brünnhilde is late: they look for her anxiously.

?Where is Brünnhide?? they ask one another.

12. When Brünnhilde arrives, the Walkyries are amazed to find that she has brought a woman with her.

?It?s not a warrior!? sister, ?Who is that woman?.

?She is Sieglinde, the lover of a brave hero.?

Brünnhilde quickly explains what has happened and begs their protection:
"Help me, Sisters! Help me! I disobeyed our father, the powerful Wotan! I?m afraid! He?s very angry with me! "

13. The Walkiries advises Sieglinde to go to the forest. She rushes off.

The storm worsens and Wotan arrives on the rock. He orders the Walkyries away from his renegade daughter.

Brünnilde?s punishment is to be terrible: placed in an enchanted sleep on the rock, she will become the mortal wife of the first man who wakes her.

Brünnhilde begs that in her sleep she be surrounded by fire so that only a hero will dare wake her. Wotan agrees, places the spell on Brünnhilde and invokes the fire god Loge to surround the mountain with his flames.

14. Gazing at Brünnhilde, Wotan pronounces a ban:
?Only he who knows no fear may claim you for his bride."

After a final sad glance, the heartbroken god leaves his beloved daughter forever:

"Farewell, my child, most brave and beautiful!
You, life and light of all my heart, farewell!
Pride of my soul, farewell, a long farewell!"

17. Alone on the mountaintop in the deepening night, the sleeping Brünnhilde awaits her heroic awakener.

SIEGFRIED (I)

1. Years later, Mime works very hard over an anvil in a cavern in a wood. He makes one sword after another, but as fast as they are made, Siegfried, a strong boy who lives with him, shatters them.

Mime keeps the pieces of Nothung, Siegmund?s sword, carefully hidden. ?I wish I could unite the pieces of the magic sword!? he wishes.

2. Mime pretends to be Siegfried?s father. He tells the boy of the care he took in raising him, and complains that Siegfried has never returned his love. In truth Mime doesn?t love him. He has raised the boy only so that he will kill Fafner, the giant turned into a dragon who has the ring, the only thing he really loves.

3. Siegfried loves all the birds and the wild animals. He watches the birds as they build their nests, and carry food to the babies. Siegfried sees how tenderly the mother foxes, wolves, and bears care for their babies.

From these creatures in the forest he learned what love is. Something in Mimi?s face shows him that the dwarf is false.

4. One day, seeing his reflection in a stream, he realizes that he doesn?t look like Mime.

?Who am I? Who are my parents?? thinks the boy.

?Animals look like their parents. I know the dwarf is not my father. This very day I am going to make him tell me who I am!"

5. Siegfried leads a big bear to the mouth of Mimi’s cave. ?You are a liar! Tell me the truth! Who are my parents?? asks Siegfried. ?I want the TRUTH? he shouts ?or the bear will EAT YOU!?

The dwarf, very frightened, relates how he found Sieglinde in the forest. She died in bearing Siegfried, but left the fragments of Nothung.

Exited by his legacy from his father Siegfried charges Mime to reforge the sword and goes out into the forest, away from the ugly dwarf whose very presence he cannot abide.

?I knew! I knew! I?m not Mime?s son!? he exclaims happily.

SIEGFRIED (II)

6. The Wanderer enters. He is Wotan in disguise. The god protects Siegfried.

The Wanderer and Mime ask each other questions about the world. Mime tells of Fafner. He wants the ring and the gold the monster keeps in a cave.

Warning Mime that the sword Nothung will be reforged only by one who does not know fear and that the same man will cause Mime?s death, the Wanderer leaves.

7. When Siegfried returns he is angered to find
Nothung still in pieces. Mime tells him that only someone who does not know fear can reforge it. Siegfried says that person is he.

?I?ll reforge Nothung,? says the boy.

Mime prepares a deadly potion he intends to give the hero after he has killed the dragon.

8. Having remade his father?s sword, Siegfried tests Nothung on the anvil, which is split in two with a single stroke.

Mime is trembling with fear, remembering the Wanderer?s prophecy.
9. Mime leads Siegfried to the cavern where the dragon sleeps. The boy wakes the monster up with his horn. ?I?m going to eat you? says the huge dragon.

Quickly, Siegfried thrusts his sword into Fafner’s heart.

10. A drop of its blood falls on his finger. It burns like fire. Siegfried puts his finger in his mouth and discovers that the blood has given him the powers to understand the speech of bird.

A forest bird tells Siegfried of the treasure hidden in the cave. Siegfried goes in. When he comes out wears the ring and has the magic helmet.

Mime tries to poison him and the boy kills the evil dwarf in self-defence. The bird tells him that a woman awaits him on a rock surrounded by fire, and leads him to her.

SIEGFRIED (III)

11. Siegfried crosses the fire and reaches Brünnhilde. There the girl sleeps in full armour hidden by her helmet and shield. She looks like a knight.

"It is some brave warrior," he thinks. "How heavy seems the armour! I?ll take it off so that he may rest better."

With his sword, he cuts off her helmet and armour.

?This is not a man!? exclaims the astonished boy.

Seeing the sleeping girl, the first woman he has ever known, he is filled with fear. But very soon love comes into his heart.

Bending low, he tenderly kisses her.

12. Brunhilde slowly opens her eyes. She looks up at the blue sky and the smiling sun, and salutes it:

?Hail to you, o glorious sun! Hail to you, o light! Hail to you, o radiant day!?

The flowers slowly opened their petals, the birds began to sing.

13. Then Brünnhilde turns to Siegfried. At first she is horrified by the loss of her godhood. Soon, however, she respond as the mortal woman she has become and, saying a final goodbye to the splendour of Walhalla, offers Siegfried her love.
